All about Germany

We made our 2nd payment for this trip already, so we're a second step closer. I wanted to share more of Catherine's upcoming journey...

...On their third day overseas of their three week journey...

Heidelberg, Germany 

Catherine and her fellow musicians will  be visiting the historical city of Heidelberg, Germany then they will travel to Dinkelsbühl.

The next day they will travel to Rothenburg ob der Tauber where they will perform their 2nd concert of the trip.

I would love to hear Catherine play at this concert but I will just have to wait to hear her stories all about her musical evening. The first leg

We made our initial deposit for the 2015 American Music Abroad Silver Tour.

I'd like to share with you a little about each leg of the trip from the itinerary that we've been given. 

America:  They will have intensive rehearsals and orientation sessions prior to their Farewell Concert for family and Friends on June 30th at Albright College in Reading, PA. Then they'll depart to JFK airport for their transatlantic flight to Europe. This will be Catherine's very first flight overseas!


They will land in Zurich, Switzerland on where they will board double decker buses and head out to their first destination on July 2nd: 

France: Alsace region, where they will have a guided walking tour of Colmar, The following morning they will visit World War II concentration camp at Natzweiler-Struthof. That afternoon they will tour the Haut Königsbourg Castle high above the Alsace Valley. That evening on July 3rd they will perform their first European Concert!

Selected to travel with American Music Abroad

My daughter has an opportunity in the summer of 2015 to go abroad to Europe with her fellow classmates for three weeks with the American Music Abroad Silver Tour. They will perform at various venues in five different countries: France, Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland. Catherine has never been outside of the United States and this will be an amazing trip.

Catherine has played the trumpet since she was 9 years old; she has played in Concert Band, Jazz Band, Marching Band and Wind Ensemble. She was even selected to play in the County Band last year, which was a huge honor. Her passion for music & learning brings us so much joy and we would love to fulfill this dream of hers. We have taught our children that music can enrich their lives and it has become an essential part of her educational experience.

Catherine is an A student, currently a member of the National Junior Honor Society and a member of the Art Club at her high school.

She has already said to us that she doesn't want Christmas gifts or Birthday presents so that we can put money towards this trip. It looks like her Passport & AMA Uniform will be her Christmas gifts from us this year. She is putting her money towards this trip & we, her parents, will too, but it is a little tough to produce $6,000 for this trip. We will be fundraising to help make this happen. We would really appreciate support in helping us raise funds to cover the cost of this trip.  Any donation you can give is a step closer for her reaching her goal.  We have an account set up at GoFundMe and PayPal to accept donations online.
